The Early Modern research collective (EMRC) facilitates interdisciplinary work by scholars whose interests range across world languages, literature, philosophy, history, theatre, and art from the fourteenth through the eighteenth centuries. The EMRC meets two or three times each term to discuss the research-in-progress produced by some of its more than forty members (who include current and retired faculty members, graduate students, and visiting researchers); guest speakers from other universities are periodically invited to speak to the group. Several award-winning articles, editions, and book projects have been shaped by these exchanges.
