It is crucial that you make an
accurate identification before taking action against a frog you believe is invasive. Please follow the
steps outlined in our Identification Key to make the proper identification. If

Up to 20 cm long.
Brownish green colour.
Grey bellies.
Males have bright yellow throats during mating season.
Very large tympanic membranes (ear drums).
Skin fold wrapped around ear drum, not down back.

Bullfrogs have a deep, sonorous call: single bullfrog - bullfrog chorus.
Adult Red-legged Frogs can be mistaken for juvenile Bullfrogs. There are several distinguishing characteristics which can prevent confusion.
The frog on the left is a Red-legged and the frog on the right is a Bullfrog.
