CSC 106

The Practice of Computer Science

Units: 1.5, Hours: 3-1

A survey of aspects of the application of Computer Science. Topics: hardware and software design including logic design, basic computer organization and system software; programming paradigms; external storage, sequential file processing and elementary relational databases; networks and electronic information services; artificial intelligence; ethical and societal considerations.

Note: Credit will be granted for only one of 106, 212. Not open to third- or fourth-year students without permission of the department. Not open for credit to students registered in or with credit in both 100 and 105 without permission of the department. If credit for 106 is approved, credit will be granted for only one of 100 or 105.
