Topics include optical waveguides and fibers, attenuation,chromatic and polarization mode dispersion, light emitting diodes, laser diodes, laser noises and reduction techniques, photo detectors, noises, passive optical polarizers, couplers, isolators and circulators, Mach-Zehnder interferometer, fiber Bragg grating, optical filters, optical multiplexer and demultiplexer, arrayed waveguide gratings and Echelle gratings, optical amplifiers, optical microcavities and plasmonic devices. Nonlinear effects and devices.
