Mathematics for Education and Liberal Arts
Units: 1.5, Hours: 3-0
A survey of mathematical techniques and methods with a focus on analytical skills and problem solving. Topics will be chosen from the following areas: number theory, Euclidean and non-Euclidean geometry, symmetries of polygons, probability, recurrences, strategy and games, the mathematics of social choice theory, and statistics.
Notes: - Not open for registration to students with credit in any MATH course numbered 200 or higher.

Prerequisites: At least 3 units of courses from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, excluding MATH 120. At least 1.5 units must be MATH courses; or permission of the department.
Undergraduate course in Mathematics offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the Faculty of Science.
