Craigdarroch Research Awards
The Craigdarroch Research Awards have been established by the vice-president research and are awarded annually to recognize excellence in research at the University of Victoria.
The awards are named for Craigdarroch Castle, home to UVic’s predecessor institution Victoria College from 1921 to 1946, where the seeds of the university’s research culture first took root.
For the purposes of the awards, the term “research” is interpreted in the broadest sense to include any original, productive, and ground-breaking scholarship in any discipline at the University. Candidates are nominated by their colleagues, and nominations are adjudicated by a distinguished selection committee.

Legacy Awards
The Legacy Awards were founded in 2002 by the UVic Alumni Association and Vikes Athletics and Recreation.
Since then, the Legacy Awards have grown, evolving into the university’s annual showcase of UVic alumni, sports leaders, teachers and researchers.
Each year, approximately 500 guests have gathered at the Victoria Conference Centre for an inspiring celebration of achievement.
Recipients are selected from nominations received by the UVic Alumni Association, the UVic Athletics and Recreation, and the Office of the Vice-President Research.
Long Service Recognition Reception
The first 25-Year recognition event was held in 1988 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the university. Since then the event, hosted by the president, has taken place annually to honour UVic employees who have completed 25 years of services. Recipients are presented with a silver pin specially crafted for the occasion.
In 1999 the event was expanded to recognize long service beyond 25 years in increments of five years. An appropriate gift or pin is presented to each employee.
New Faculty and Librarian's Reception
Traditionally held at the University Club, this reception gives new faculty and librarians an opportunity to be introduced and welcomed to the campus. This event occurs annually.
