Friday, May 9
   

7:30-8:30

Breakfast at Middle Beach Lodge (MBL) for MBL guests.

8:30 - 12:30

Clearcut/rainforest tour. Gather at Lounge of MBL #1 at 8:30 sharp. Lunch will be en route.

1:00

Quick check in at MBL to pick up family members participating in afternoon activities.

1:30-5:30

Various excursions in the Sound (sign up at registration desk ASAP):
Guests and families of participants will be accommodated as space permits. Should space not permit, we will help arrange similar tours on Saturday and/or Sunday.

 

A. Hike on Meares Island.
Participants who wish to do this will be dropped off at the 4th street dock and ferried over. Hike is two hours long, and moderately strenuous.

 

B. Nature Tours with Remote Passages.
These tours are approximately two and one half hours long. Cost will be $30 per participant.

 

C. Flight over the Sound with Lighthawk. (Weather dependent)
The flights take an hour. Meet shuttle at MBL #1, main lounge, for trip to airport.

5:30

All participants still in town after trips meet up at the Common Loaf Bake Shop to catch the bus back to MBL.

6:00

Welcoming "social hour" at the Lounge of MBL #1. Appetizers will be served; drinks available at no-host bar. All participants and families welcome.

7:30

Salmon and/or vegetarian dinner, catered by Middle Beach Lodge.

9:00

Slide show by Valerie Langer in Conference Room. (This will be a Clayoquot "campaign" show; there will be a Clayoquot natural history slideshow on Saturday night).

Saturday, May 10

Morning guided walk with Adrienne Mason for guests and families of participants. Meet outside MBL #1.

Plenary in MBL #1 Lounge, raising topics for further discussion and forming new groups.

Small group discussions (number, location and focus to be determined at plenary session).

1:00-2:30

Lunch and closing remarks.

2:30 Planning session for writing, publishing , and activist projects.
Meet in MBL #1 Lounge to organize projects.
   
Everyone is on their own for supper. Conference organizers available to assist with reservations and transportation to and from restaurants.
