Economics Alumni Network
The Economics Alumni Network is focused on reaching out to Economics alumni through networking, mentoring and fun activities. If you are interested in staying in touch with your classmates and taking advantage of networking and mentoring opportunities with fellow alumni working in various fields, then this group is for you!
Economics Alumni Scholarship
The Economics Alumni Network established a scholarship of $500, to be awarded each year to a promising graduate student in the Department of Economics. The department congratulates the students awarded the Alumni Scholarship and welcomes donations to help support our graduate students.
Alumni Who Made a Difference
To commemorate the University of Victoria's 50th anniversary, the UVic Alumni Association is proud to honour individuals and couples who made a difference to the strength of UVic through their involvement and citizenship on behalf of their alma mater. Eight of the 50 alumni being recognized are Economics alumni! Congratulations to: Jim Crawford (BA '68), Jennifer Davison (BA '01, MA '03), Don Drummond (BA '76), Kara Flanagan (MA '04), Tony Gage (BA '70), Mike Holmes (BA '87), Robert Pearce (BA '78) and Tracy Redies (BA '84). Economics alumni memory contest
In honour of the University of Victoria’s 50th anniversary, the UVic Economics Alumni Network held a contest for the best memory as an economics student at UVic.And the winner is ...
Congratulations to Johann Kuntze (2002) for his great memory of his time as an Econ student at UVic. He won a copy of the Deluxe Illustrated version of Steven Levitt’s Superfreakonomics!
“Dr. Peter Kennedy, asking in a Cost-Benefit class about “what do we really need”, and Steven Tobin (MA, 1998) responding “I thought, according to the Beatles, all we need is love”. I recall that it took Dr. Kennedy off guard and everyone (including Dr. Kennedy) laughing about it. And the Econ Grad intramural softball team “Copacetic” – Never quite winning the championship, but a lot of good times and cold beverages along the way.”
