ARENA - Advanced Research on the Europeanisation of the Nation
State
Dr. Fossum is a senior researcher at SentralARENA. His main
fields of interest include political theory, constitutionalism
and the complex of the EU, europeanisation and international
integration. His current research projects look at Constitution
making and Democratic Legitimacy in the EU and The Politics
of Identity and Citizenship in the EU and Canada. Some current
publications include Developing a Constitution for Europe, (co-edited
with Erik Oddvar Eriksen and Agustin Menéndez) London:

Co-ordinator, Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence,
Department of Government, University of Essex
Dr. Kirchner holds a Jean Monnet Chair and is the co-ordinator
of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in the Department of
Government at the University of Essex. He is also currently
serving as the Executive Editor of the Journal of European Integration.
Some of his most notable published works include Decision-Making
in the European Community: the Council Presidency and European
Integration; The European Parliament: Performance and Prospects;
The Role of Interest Groups in the European Community and Trade
Unions as a Pressure Group in the European Community.
Professor Lenka Rovna

Jean Monnet Chair
Faculty of Social Science , Charles University, Prague
Dr. Rovna holds a Jean Monnet Chair and Chair of the Department
of West European Studies at Charles University in Prague. She
also acts as Vice Dean of Public Relations for the Faculty of
Social Sciences at her University. Some of her recent work has
been devoted to examining the Czech Republic from a socio-political
perspective in light of EU accession. An example of her recent
work is “The Enlargement of the European Union: The case
of the Czech Republic” in Perspectives on the Enlargement
of the European Union, Cameron Ross (Ed.) 2002.
Professor Alberta Sbragia sbragia@ucis.pitt.edu
Professor of Political Science
Director, Center for West European Studies, University of Pittsburgh
Dr. Sbragia is Director of the Center for Western European Studies
and Director of the European Union Center as well as Professor
in the Department of political science. Her expertise is in
omparative politics, Western Europe, European Union politics,
comparative federalism and religion. Some of her most recent
publications include Debt Wish: Entrepreneurial Cities, U.S.
Federalism, and Economic Development Pittsburgh: University
of Pittsburgh Press, 1996. Nominated as one of the best books
of 1996 APSA’s Urban Politics Section 1996 Best Book Committee.
Her ongoing work related to the European Union focuses on 1)
the impact of the EU on the organization of the international
economy. More specifically, it examines how the creation of
the EEC as a customs union shaped the subsequent emergence of
regionalism, NAFTA, MERCOSUR, ASEAN(AFTA), and APEC in particular
2) analyzing the EU in comparative terms, with particular reference
to the literature on American federalism, policymaking, state
formation and development.

Dr. Soldatos is the holder of the Jean Monnet Chair at the University
of Montreal where he is Professor of Political Science. He is
founder and co-editor of the Journal of European Integration,
co-founder and Vice-President of the Canadian Council for European
Affairs, co-founder and co-director of the Université
européenne d'Été à Lyon (UEEL).
Dr. Soldatos is also Director of the New International Cities
Era Project (NICE), a visiting fellow at Harvard University
and a visting professor at the universities of Jean Moulin de
Lyon, Paris, Versailles, McGill and Concordia.
