Professional development
The Certificate courses in the Restoration of Natural Systems Program can be taken individually on a noncredit basis and are ideal for professional development. Most of them are also offered by distance or in a unique 5-day intensive format that is suitable for people working full-time who wish to fulfill professional development requirements to maintain their standing as registered professional Biologists, Foresters, Agrologists and Landscape Architects. Our Professional Specialization Certificate on Native Species and Natural Processes is a new 4-course credential with an innovative systems approach to ecological restoration, especially relevant to urban areas. The RNS Program offers an annual Restoration Institute with workshops, a full-day symposium and field trips on themes such as species at risk, invasive species and ecological monitoring that are an excellent choice for professional development. The RNS also regularly hosts workshops with other organizations, such as the recent "Engagement Strategies for Resource Management Decisions" and offers Speaker Series on topics such as brownfield development and heritage greenspaces.
