- BSc (Zoology) 1991, University of Guelph
John leads the Seafood Ecology Research Group (SERG) at UVic. Trained as a population and molecular ecologist, he and his students use data intensive approaches to uncover linkages between ecological and social sustainability, particularly with regard to marine-based food production systems. Salmon, sablefish and bivalve aquaculture, aquaculture-capture fisheries interactions, invasive species and marine applications of complexity theory are topics of current interest and research.
