Grants and funding

The research of Environmental Studies faculty and students is funded by a wide range of government, private, and foundation sponsors. Our researchers draw support from all three major Canadian research councils - NSERC, SSHRC, and CIHR. This is rather unique for a single, modest sized academic unit and reflects the intellectual rigour and disciplinary breadth to be found in Environmental Studies. The emphasis on policy relevant research in Environmental Studies means significant support is also drawn from non-government organizations, foundations, and the private sector. Almost without exception our graduate students attract external financial support for their research programs, a testament to the calibre of students here in Environmental Studies.
