The Equity and Human Rights office provides educational sessions on a variety of topics. Most of these sessions can be modified to fit time schedules from 1 hour to full day workshops.
Our approach to Human Rights Education combines both an anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive framework for program design and implementation with special focus on results that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely (S.M.A.R.T). For this, we will adopt a result-based model to illustrate the relationships between the resources, educational tools or activities, the stated objectives and the results we plan to achieve.
We will achieve some of these results throughout specific projects (campaigns) and workshops that connect to our focus: to increase diversity and create fair, respectful and inclusive work and study environments at UVic.
These educational sessions cover 4 areas of our work, in addition to the tailored trainings we also offer on request to the different UVic departments and programs:
Human Rights: BC Human Rights Code, Types of Discrimination, Manifestations of Discrimination Cases
Personal Harassment or Bullying: Verbal Abuse, Impact, What Can You Do
Sexual Harassment: Criteria to Assess Allegations, Low Level Harassment, Impact, Prevention, Early Intervention, What You Can Do
