Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee includes UVic faculty, Family Centre staff, family representatives and people from the broader community.
The committee gets together once a month to support the ongoing activities and development of the Centre.
On walking into the Family Centre you might be greeted by a number of people:
Staff
Elizabeth Quong ~ Elizabeth is the director of the Family Centre. She facilitates program development, practica placements, liaising with the broader community on and off campus and enjoys assisting in the actual programs.
Emma Chalifour ~ Emma provides administrative support and assists with program development and family care.
Ildiko Danis ~ Ildiko is an early childhood educator. She runs our drop-in programs for children five years and under.
Janna Mackenzie ~ Janna is a graduate from the School of Child and Youth Care and runs the after school program.
Avril Nagel ~ Avril is our newsletter editor. Avril is a mother of two small children and lives in Student Family Housing.
Practica students
Practica students from the schools of Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Nursing and others play an integral role in assisting with program delivery at the Family Centre. The Centre provides a unique and valuable learning opportunity.
The Family Centre also serves as a resource for students completing thesis and project research.
Volunteers
The Family Centre would not be able to offer all that we do without the wonderful support of our volunteers. Some are students themselves, others are from the broader community, but all bring a wealth of experience and we greatly appreciate them!
