The Site |
|
The site of First Peoples House is near the centre of the campus, in the green
space along the north edge of the quad to the south of University
Centre. The site was selected by the planning committee for a number of
reasons, including:
- establishing an Aboriginal presence in the heart of the campus
- celebrating the historical significance of the quadrangle as
a place for ceremonial activities
- orienting the building to the cardinal points and establishing
an eastern entrance
- placing the House in close proximity to University Centre,
which is another ceremonial space
