Information about giving to UVic
Gifts by U.S. residents or citizens
Under the U.S.-Canada Income Tax Convention of 1980, contributions directly to the University of Victoria are generally deductible to the extent of the contributor’s foreign sourced Canadian income.
If the contributor or a member of his/her family is an alumnus of the University of Victoria, or was enrolled at the University of Victoria at any time, the Canadian income restriction is removed. A Canadian gift receipt issued by the University of Victoria may be used for tax benefits in the United States.
Donations from US citizens can also be given to the U.S. Foundation for the University of Victoria, a charitable entity in the United States.
Gifts by residents of Hong Kong and China
The Hong Kong Foundation was established to receive and receipt gifts from residents of Hong Kong and China.
