Masters
- Master of Geography student, Chris Jensen, is investigating how to manage rainwater where it falls - "mimicking Mother Nature". Read more about this important research.
- “Lion vomit might just be the worst smell in the world.” That juicy tidbit is just part of the ongoing education of geography master’s student Mary Smulders. Smulders is busy conducting research on lions in Kenya. Read about it in The Ring.
- Doug Csima, a graduate student in Health Information Science, earned a silver medal at the 2009 world rowing championships in Poznan, Poland, in August, as a member of Canada's men's eight team.
- Master of Political Science student, Elodie Texier, represented UVic at the Simulation of the European Parliament Quebec-Canada-European Union (SPECQUE) in August in Germany. Read about it in The Ring.
- Master of Biology student, Valerie Mucciarelli, is monitoring artificial reefs off Ogden Point. Read about it in The Ring.

Doctoral
- PhD Candidate Sarah Buydens pursues the importance of mentorship among military women in her PhD research. Read about her work in The Ring.

- Twelve awards were recently granted to UVic graduate students from the REACH (Research in Early Education and Child Health) group, the UVic branch of the Human Early Learning Partnership (HELP), a consortium of 6 BC universities. Eight students were recognized for exemplary research relevant to early childhood and four students were recipients of thesis funding.
