Latin America Research Group
At the University of Victoria
The Latin America Research Group at the University of Victoria aims to
serve as an academic forum for scholarly research about Latin America.
The group gathers faculty members from a wide array of departments -
Hispanic and Italian Studies, Anthropology, Philosophy, Sociology, Geography,
Public Administration and Business, among others - and promotes joint research
projects, lectures, conferences, courses and seminars across departmental
lines and disciplines.
The group seeks to enhance the profile of Latin America as a key
cultural, political, and economic region of the Americas. It also intends to
establish ties with other institutions in Canada, the United States and Latin
America to foster academic exchange.
Through its website, the Latin America Research Group is also an
informational resource for faculty, students, and the community at large
interested in academic and cultural activities related to Latin America being
held at the University and the Victoria region.
