Electronic PBC Claims Filing effective January 1, 2011
Claim submission for vision care, chiropractic, physiotherapy, and massage therapy expenses can now be done electronically through PBC CARESnet effective January 1, 2011.
This will require enrolment for Direct Deposit reimbursement and electronic claim statements.
Pacific Blue Cross may request additional information or supporting documentation before processing your eClaim. Additionally, some eClaimes may be randomly selected for receipt verification.

Pacific Blue Cross will continue to require paper submissions for certain Extended Health Benefit claims such as prescriptions.
Notices for Premium Adjustments
To help save our planet, notices regarding premium adjustments will now be communicated through My page rather than by individual memo. These notices will be posted under the Employee Services Leaves and Benefits tab.
Additional Travel Insurance
The University’s group extended health care plans, which have a lifetime maximum of $1,000,000 per member or dependent, provide coverage only for emergency medical expenses when traveling outside of BC.
For added protection, Pacific Blue Cross is offering a new Group Voluntary Travel plan, which you can purchase to pay for additional services not included under the extended plans. Features of this group travel plan include:
- First payer of emergency expenses – protects your extended plan’s lifetime limit
- Trip cancellation or interruption
- Accidental death
- Air flight accident
- Emergency return
- Baggage loss, delay or damage
- Discounted rate for members of UVic’s group extended plans
- Coverage available for single or multiple trips throughout the year
For further information, or to obtain a quote, visit http://www.pac.bluecross.ca, and click on “Travel Insurance” on the top bar. Once you select the coverage that meets your needs, and enter your UVic extended health group number, the discount will automatically be applied.
