English 340 Unit 5: Practice with Authentic Texts

This unit has exercises reviewing what you've learned so far, based on authentic Old English texts. The texts are short, and they have been heavily marked up using an advanced HTML system, so you will need a recent browser (Internet Explorer 5 or Netscape 6) to get the full benefit of the pages. Each text is presented as a reading. As you read, you can click on the text to see a translation of each section. You can also examine the syntax of the text by choosing to highlight all the nouns, verbs, adjectives etc. When you are familiar with the text, you can do the exercise based on it, which appears on the right.
