Direct object pronouns

Often direct object pronouns are used instead of direct objects if the direct object is known and/or already mentioned. Using lo or la (it) or los or las (them), for example, instead of the proper names, saves time and energy; and since the object is known already, there is usually little confusion about what it or them refers to.
