Professional Development
Workshops
The Associate Dean of Humanities coordinates 5-6 professional development workshops over the academic year. Although primarily geared for faculty within their first 3 years at the university, more senior faculty have found some of these useful. The workshops generally tend to focus on grant information (external and internal), publishing dissertations, time management, tenure and promotion, and any other miscellaneous issues suggested by faculty members. When appropriate some relevant printed material from these workshops will be posted on this site.
Please do not hesitate to contact Sikata Banerjee, Associate Dean, Humanities if you have questions or suggestions for workshop topics. Email: sikatab@uvic.ca or tel: 7259.

Expenses
Annually, usually in July, faculty members receive a memorandum from Accounting informing them of the amount available in their Professional Development account for the year. Prior to incurring expenses, the Professional Development Pre-Approval Form must be filled out and signed by the department Chair. The forms and additional information can be found on the Accounting Services website.
