Faculty of Humanities Annual Updating of Curriculum Vitae: Guidelines for Faculty

The University Secretary (who has responsible for Freedom of Information requests at the University of Victoria) advises that University of Victoria Faculty CVs have been prescribed as public documents. They are available without a Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy request. Faculty should therefore ensure that their CVs do not include personal information such as birth date, nationality, or details of activities not directly related to functions of the University, if they wish this information to remain confidential.

The Framework Agreement calls for all regular faculty members to update their CVs annually. The approved UVic format for CVs is to be found at web.uvic.ca/vpac/doc/CVtemplate.pdf. In doing the updating, please follow these guidelines:

Sections 1 & 2:

No change needed.

Sections 3, 4 & 5:

Additions or corrections as needed.

Section 6:

Additions or corrections may be made.

Section 7: is to be filled in as follows:

7a: Include only articles published in refereed journals. Do not include items which are accepted or in press. These should be reported in Section 10. Conference proceedings and reviews are not to be included in Section 7a.

7b: Self-explanatory. Please do not include items which are not yet published.

7c: Include all other publications in this part, such as reviews, invited reviews, and published reports along with necessary information on the agency for whom the report was prepared.

7d: Self-explanatory.

7e: Self-explanatory.

To maintain uniformity in listing of publications, please follow the format for publications found below.

Section 8:

This section has two subsections:

8a. Courses Taught
Entries should be in chronological order and the format as given in the section must be followed. Include teaching of graduate courses in this section.

8b. Graduate Supervision
Please include all graduate supervision, noting the type of supervision involved.

Section 9:

Self-explanatory.

Section 10:

Include any other information which you think is pertinent to your permanent record. Include work accepted, work in press, or work submitted for publication.
