The site of the Office of Research Services site describes internal funding opportunities.

Travel to conferences is funded by the Scholarly Research and Artistic Performance Travel Grant program. Not more than one conference trip per year will be funded. Application forms and guidelines are available here.

A competition for Internal Research Grants of up to $4,000 is held each year. March 1 is the annual deadline for applications. Application forms and guidelines can be found at here.

 

External

Consult the Office of Research Services website for information on UVic policies regarding external grants and grant facilitation.

The most commonly-sought external grant for Humanities faculty members is the SSHRC Standard Research Grant. See the SSHRC website for a description of the program. A workshop to aid in the preparation of Standard Research Grant applications is held in April. The Faculty of Humanities deadline for applications (which must be signed by the Associate Dean) is mid-September.

Other SSHRC funds should also be considered. Please check the SSHRC site and consult the Associate Dean for more information.
