Office of Indigenous Affairs staff welcomes you!
I want to extend a heartfelt welcome to you on behalf of the Office of Indigenous Affairs team. I feel privileged to be part of the excitement and growth at the University of Victoria. I am honoured to be working on behalf of Aboriginal learners on this beautiful traditional Coast Salish territory.
The primary goal of the Office of Indigenous Affairs (INAF) is to assist you in accessing services and programs and to support you in your experience while on campus. In this light, I look forward to meeting you and invite you to visit INAF so that you can connect with our staff whether you are a new or continuing student.
We hope to see you at the Week of Welcome and I encourage you to get involved with the Native Students Union. In the fall of 2009 the First Peoples House will be open to students and community and our goal is that it be your home away from home.
I truly believe the University of Victoria is the place to be. There is excitement in the air. There is an ever-growing range of Indigenous courses and programs being offered and we have committed faculty and staff here to provide quality education and a welcoming environment. Once again, welcome to the University of Victoria and please do drop in to the Office of Indigenous Affairs where we can assist in your orientation to campus.
Best regards,
Fran Hunt-Jinnouchi
