Indigenous Counselling Office
A sharing, caring and healing place for the Indigenous community at UVic.
My name is Sylvie Cottell. I am a Metis registered clinical counsellor and have been a visitor on Coast Salish Territory my whole life. My intention as a counsellor is to help people rebalance and find harmony in their lives.
There are times when depression, anxiety, or another hurdle is put in our path. I will meet you from a place of deep compassion that comes from my own experience of being on this human journey. I strive to create a healing space of acknowlegdment and acceptance of hte fullness of who you are, as I believe you carry the resources within yourself to create the changes you desire.
My approach to counselling takes into consideration the importance of balance between all aspects of the self (emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual), as well as honouring connection to community.
To book an appointment, please call, email, or drop by UVic Counselling Services main reception (250-721-8341, counsell@uvic.ca, University Centre Toom B270). Please indicate that you are an Indigenous student and would like to meet with me. You can also contact me directly at inafic@uvic.ca. If preferred, appointments can also take place at the First Peoples' House.
Same day sessions may also be available. Feel free to drop by UVic Counselling Services (University Centre, Room B270) between 8:30 - 4:30 from Monday to Thursday to check if I have any free spaces.
