First Peoples House Tours

  • Visits and Informational program tours and tours for Indigenous Student Recruitment are encouraged.
  • Tours for the general public need to be pre-booked and are based on staff availability to conduct.

Tours of the FPH occur on a limited basis and we ask everyone to please keep in mind that the FPH is not a museum. It is important that FPH tours are conducted in a respectful way, and that students utilizing and studying in the FPH are not disturbed.

Some of the staff within the FPH General office are available to provide tours of the FPH upon request. Tours are relatively informal and take approximately 20 min. Tours must be pre- arranged and depend on staff availability. To request a tour, please contact the Office of Indigenous Affairs staff and/or the FPH Receptionist.

UVic Indigenous faculty, staff, students, and programs external to the FPH are also welcome to host their own visits/tours of the FPH. If you are external UVic Indigenous faculty, staff, students, and/or programs, please note the following before coordinating FPH visit/tour:

  • If the group you will be hosting would like to view the Ceremonial Hall, please contact the FPH Receptionist at fph@uvic.ca to book the Ceremonial Hall for your tour group and to ensure there is no scheduling conflicts
  • We respectfully request you to inform your tour group of Coast Salish protocol: to only come into our sacred home with a good heart and mind

Visitors are always welcome to walk through the FPH. Please walk quietly and respectfully.

To request a tour, please contact Office of Indigenous Affairs administrative staff and/or the First Peoples House Receptionist.
