Collaborative Research

The University of Victoria actively engages with industry partners to develop new technologies to solve some of industry’s most challenging problems. Industry partners can participate in research collaboration through ongoing research and through contracting specific research projects at the University of Victoria.

Usually the research plan and research activities are conducted jointly with both parties contributing. In the ordinary course intellectual property arising from these activities resides with the creator with sponsors provided with the opportunity to gain exclusive or non-exclusive access to the arising intellectual property through an option to license.

The benefits of collaborating with UVic researchers include:

  • Access to technologies resulting from research collaboration
  • Direct access to faculty expertise
  • Access to a wide range of specialized state-of-the-art research facilities
  • Access to highly qualified undergraduate and graduate students and post-doctorates
  • Potential to leverage research dollars
  • R&D tax credit
