UVic Industry Partnerships is open to granting both exclusive and non-exclusive licenses to interested companies under suitable scenarios. Industry-standard licensing practices are typically followed to ensure an efficient licensing process.
The following briefly outlines the process when licensing UVic technologies:
- A company provides UVic Industry Partnerships with the letter of interest and a brief profile of company business.
- We assess the proposal and determine licensing opportunity.
- We set up an initial meeting with the company contact to discuss the scope of licensing.
- We prepare a term sheet or a draft of a standard license agreement.
- Both parties negotiate and agree on the license terms.
- We finalize the license agreement with the agreed terms.
