It displays the speech and video signal together with its annotations links the time of the annotation to the audio-video, and links annotation tiers together. Eventually, ELAN will allow you by-pass Transcriber and Shoebox; but, it is still being modified, and for now it is easier and faster to use the other programs. Nevertheless, we must use ELAN for its media/text linking function, and all annotations must at some point be entered into ELAN.
