There are many international teams of linguists involved in the DoBeS program. Each language has been selected on the basis of its degree of endangerment and the level of urgency for its documentation. The criteria for language endangerment is set by the Volkswagen Foundation in consultation with experts in the field.
Documentation part of the program is expected to continue for 10 years, with new teams added each year. But the archive will be managed in perpetuity and team members are expected to maintain their long after they have completed their documentation
