The National Magazine Awards Foundation announced the nominations for all award categories in Toronto on May 1, 2014.
The 37th annual awards honour the achievements of writers and other magazine professionals for work published in 2013. A complete list of nominees may be found at the Foundation’s website. The winners will be announced at the National Magazines Awards gala on June 6, 2014 in Toronto.
Since these awards were established in 1977, The Malahat Review has garnered 81 nominations for excellent poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. It has gone on to win fifteen gold and eleven silver awards, more than any other literary magazine in Canada.
This is the second time that Sina Queyras has been nominated in the poetry category work published by The Malahat Review. Her previous nomination for “Her Dreams of the Expressway” (Issue 165, Winter 2008) earned her a gold award in 2008.
