The Malahat Review's Twitter Contest

Grow Your Own Sonnet and Enter the Malahat's First-Line Contest!

WT 2016 twitter contest

To tweet or not to tweet, that is the question!

In celebration of Freedom to Read Week (February 21 - 27) and our annual literary symposium, WordsThaw (March 16 - 20), enter our new Twitter First Line Contest and win poetry books by esteemed Canadian authors!

Come up with the first line of a sonnet that is 140 characters or less—it must also be iambic and exactly ten syllables long—then tweet it along with the hashtag #‎140firstline‬.

Contest begins February 21, 2016.

Entry is FREE and participants can tweet us their entries as often as they like. A different winner will be chosen each week by Molly Peacock, a featured speaker for this year's UVic Humanities Lansdowne Lecture and Master Class at WordsThaw.

We're excited to co-present this contest with the Greater Victoria Public Library, Planet Earth Poetry, and the Creative Nonfiction Collective Society.

Looking for information on WordsThaw? Be sure to visit the WordsThaw website and purchase your tickets to our biggest literary festival yet!
