John Archibald is Professor of Linguistics and Dean of Humanities at the University of Victoria. His PhD was in Linguistics but he also studied literature & drama extensively, and performed in many plays. He just finished reading The Salmon of Doubt by Douglas Adams, and is now reading a biography of Max Perkins (famous literary editor of the early 20th century).
