I am glad to be a part of the Multifaith Services team. I completed my Masters of Divinity from the University of Toronto and was ordained in the Presbyterian Church in Canada.
Although I originally come from the Hammer (Hamilton, ON) I now call Victoria home. Back in Hamilton I worked as a bartender in my neighbourhood brew-pub as well as a youth, young adult and family minister in an inner city church. Some people thought this was a strange combination, but I was always impressed at how the regulars at the pub often established a more spiritual and compassionate community than that at the church. That’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy both jobs! At the church I worked with youth who came from all different walks of life and enjoyed being goofy with the kids in the community. Before becoming a minister I received my Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology and Religion in Culture from Sir Wilfrid Laurier University. Here in Victoria I am lucky enough to have a full time job as the assistant minister at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in the downtown core. My focus there is on education and outreach, which means I basically get to do all the best things in faith and spirituality. I’m also a big fan of live music, especially any band that plays on CBC Radio 3 and spend most of my lunch hour on Wednesdays walking up Mount Tolmie. There’s no need to be Presbyterian to hang out with me. Please feel free to come by and chat about Victoria, micro-brews and spirituality over tea!
