Canadian CBR funding model report released
A system exists in Canada to improve social conditions through the application of knowledge and research but to be effective, existing practices need to be consolidated and revitalized. That’s the conclusion of a report released in Ottawa on Oct. 26, 2009 on policy issues related to funding of community-based research (CBR) in Canada. The report, entitled The Funding and Development of Community University Research Partnerships in Canada was prepared by Uvic's Office of Community-Based Research in conjunction with Carleton University, the Université du Québec à Montréal and Community-Based Research Canada.
antidote receives Cultural Heritage and Diversity Award
antidote, a UVic-based organization committed to programs and initiatives for multi-racial and Indigenous girls and women, has received the 2009 Representative for Children and Youth Award of Excellence for Cultural Heritage and Diversity. antidote was one of four British Columbia organizations and two individuals recognized on November 4, 2009 for their dedication to making a difference in the lives of BC's vulnerable children and youth. more...
ATRP Final Report
The Indigenous Adult and Higher Learning Association with the support of the Office of Indigenous Affairs and the Office of Community-Based Research has released the Year One Report on the study Transitions from Aboriginal-Controlled Post-Secondary Institutions to Public Post-Secondary Institutions. The study looked at how to increase the success of Aboriginal students in making the transition to public post- secondary opportunities.

Dr. Budd Hall—director of UVic’s Office of Community-Based Research (OCBR) —was honoured in March 2009, with Dr. Elaine Gallagher, director of UVic's Centre on Aging, with a University of Victoria Community Leadership Award. more...
Launch of CBR-C!
Community-Based Research Canada :
The Community-Based Research Canada Network is working to provide useful space for community and university researchers to strengthen their work and build solutions for community-centred change. It will be the space of those who use it, build it and find it a tool for action. Three universities have agreed to take initial responsibility for the Pan-Canadian Coalition in its first two years (2008-2010):
- Carleton University
- The University of Victoria (UVic)
- Université du Quebec à Montréal (UQAM)
