OCBR history

The Office of Community-Based Research emerged following a forum of community-based researchers at the University of Victoria in April 2005, a follow-up forum with community representatives in May 2006, and a university-community task force report in June 2006.

This report is based on consultations and inquiries that took place between January and June 2006 with senior members of the university community, faculty, staff and students, as well as community partners and Aboriginal community members.

UVic Faculty CBR Forum - April 2005

A forum on community-based research (CBR) held at the University of Victoria in April 2005 provided the opportunity for researchers to consider the role of CBR in building healthy communities, both on campus and in wider civil society. More than 80 researchers from a wide range of faculties and research centres took part in the full- day event.
