GRADUATE PROGRAM IN PACIFIC AND ASIAN STUDIES

In the Department of Pacific and Asian Studies at the University of Victoria, students have an exciting opportunity to pursue graduate education in a wide range of subject matters. Our program is multidisciplinary, encompassing analytical,critical approaches to literature, language, history, intellectual history, theatre, cinema, philosophy, religion, and social conditions. Students will build on their undergraduate or experiential backgrounds in Pacific and Asian studies, working with primary research materials in Asian languages (we currently focus on Chinese, Japanese, and Indonesian), under the personalised academic guidance of a qualified, dedicated supervisor. Our graduate program leads to the degree of Master's of the Arts, through course work and either a thesis or short-thesis option. We offer excellent preparation for further graduate work at the doctoral level appropriate for any other institution.
