Background Information
[Oceania: especially Fiji, Tonga]
Dr. Morgan has done detailed fieldwork in Tonga and Fiji, and archival researches on several indigenous societies. This study is considering two small world-systems in the Asia-Pacific region: Fiji-Samoa in the Pacific Basin and the Andaman Islands in the Indian Ocean. The comparative study of small world-systems suggests indigenous populations have (hi) stories that can be revealed in newly-meaningful terms and their inclusion gives a more complete knowledge of the region.
