Guideline:

Japanese language studies at the University of Victoria is an intensive, four-semester program equivalent to a standard four-year program. In-class time is seven hours per week (one hour of which is allocated to Language Lab or Tutorial work); students are advised to allocate sufficient time for homework as well. Note that credit for each semester is 3 units rather than the usual 1 1/2 . The courses are PAAS 130 (JAPA149), PAAS 131 (JAPA150), PAAS 230 (JAPA249) and PAAS 330 (JAPA311), as well as a number of upper-level courses intended to help advanced students improve their reading, writing and conversation skills. The textbook used for the first three courses is Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese: Genki (げんき), volume I and volume II, and Intermediate Japanese (中級の日本語) for PAAS 330 (PAAS330), both by the Japan Times.
