There are literally thousands of Japanese-related websites, both in English and Japanese, and maintaining a comprehensive and up-to-date list is very difficult; fortunately, a few kind and hardworking people have spent considerable time doing just that.
Two of the best are maintained by Jim Breen: The Monash Nihongo ftp Archive, containing links to software and dictionary files (mirrored here), and his home page, with links to more general information on Japan, and also including software and dictionary information. Dr. Breen has also developed a very impressive online dictionary project called WWWJDIC; students are encouraged to try this out.
Another very good and up-to-date site is Malaspina College's Japanese Language Learning/Teaching Resources. Another large collection of links is at Vashon's Japan Links. Further information on specific topics may be found on the pages at the links below:
