Canada ranks high in housing, safety & life satisfaction

According to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development’s latest quality-of-life assessment, Canadians are not only far better off than residents of the developing world, but also better off than many of the planet's richest countries.  The quality of life assessment is based on many indicators and the Globe and Mail has comment from Janni Aragon on the fact that more women between the ages of 25 and 64 have earned a high-school degree, which is unusual among OECD countries.  Globe and Mail

Candidate recruitment often is a key component for parties, and professor emeritus Norman Ruff sees a parallel with then-Liberal leader Jean Chretien prior to the 1993 election. Macfarlane writes that the bill may not pass Charter of Rights scrutiny, but the bigger problem is it will fail to address the major issues surrounding the protests. Macleans.ca

Professor emeritus Norman Ruff has commented in a Canadian Press article that has been picked up by the Herald News and The Daily Courier (Vernon).  The article is about medals that were given to a group of men for an act of heroism.  One of the medals has turned up in the United Kingdom and the Tonquin Foundation in Tofino is trying to raise funds to purchase the medal and bring it back to Canada.  Herald News
