Sara Smock Jordan, PhD, LMFT is an associate professor in Texas Tech University’s Marriage and Family Therapy Program in Lubbock, TX. Sara’s research interests include analyzing solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) conversations, outcome research on SFBT, and increasing SFBT’s recognition as an evidence-based practice. Sara is the developer of the Solution Building Inventory and has applied SFBT to substance abusing populations. Her outcome research on solution-focused group therapy for substance abusers (Smock et al., 2008) has been recognized by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices. Sara has received funding from the US Department of Education, US Department of Health and Human Services, and Texas Tech University.
