Students
Undergraduate students in the Department of Psychology can apply to take part in the co-op program.
Co-op terms normally alternate with academic terms after your first year of study. Prior to your first co-op term, you'll complete a series of seminars to prepare you for the work term. Topics include skills assessment, résumé and cover letter preparation, interview skills and succeeding in the workplace.
Securing a co-op position is competitive. Most co-op opportunities are posted on MyCo-op, a password-protected website used by students to create résumés and cover letters (but you can develop your own jobs too). You'll visit this site to apply for positions that interest you, then proceed to the interview if the employer shortlists you. If you are the successful candidate, you'll proceed to the job acceptance step. You'll be most successful if you apply to a range of jobs in a variety of locations.
Throughout any work term, you'll receive support from your co-op coordinator and be supervised on the job by your workplace supervisor.
