A quick trip to Brisbane
(gettin' busy in Brisy)
More strange aussie signs. I think this means 'Padre hats and white
socks only'.

My host Graham Martin (wonderful bloke). Took me to the top of Mt
Coot-tha.

For some unknown reason, the locals call it Bris Vegas.

A bridge for bikes and pedestrians. Why make it so elegant? Why not...

I have a thing for birds.

The view from Graham's office.

He has a balcony next to his office.

And birds have a thing for me. Apparently, this crow owns the balcony.

And was not at all happy to share it with me.

A walkway along the river. I could have spent all day wandering around
there ...

Another bird of paradise.

Brisbane was lovely. The people are friendly and the
scenery is amazing. The river zig zags through the city
on a lazy meander to the sea (see map below). I had a quick tour of
the City with Graham, then a truly scrumptious dinner at his place.
I spent the night in a hotel room that Graham owns (very posh).
I gave my talk the next morning (at 8am!!). Then spent the day chatting
with Graham and Barry Wagner about suicide (it was much more pleasant
than it sounds). A yummy lunch in a river-side café and
then zoomed back to Cairns that evening. There is a good chance that
I'll get back to Bris Vegas in the next few weeks—and if I do,
I'm gonna stick around for a few days.
