Boy meets shark

Our trip to the Great Barrier Reef begins...

The boys board the mighty ship Reef Quest...

and enjoy a few frosty ones in the lounge...

Our sister ship Sea Quest

Cairns fades over the horizon

While cruisin' for aussie chicks, Riley ends up in the engine room.

We arrive at the reef (What? This is it???)

The galley on Ocean Quest (our liveaboard home for the weekend)
[Note the hungry lad waiting for lunch -- also note the dreadlocks]

We discover that the neighbours have MUCH better accommodations

And we discover why they arrived before we did...

But our dive equipment is custom fitted ("grab any two mate")

and we have personalized tanks and vests ("pick one ya like, mate")

Our dives are carefully planned (by preschoolers)

But we take the aussie version of a rabbit's foot with us...

Catch a few rays on the sundeck

Watch the sunset...

No pictures can describe diving on the reef.

OK, fine, we didn't spend $100 to rent an underwater camera (that we would use badly or drop into the depths)

But we did buy a video of ourselves becoming certified divers (coming soon to a TV near you).

In case, you're wonering, we saw sharks, sea turtles, eels, octopus, a jillion fish and the loch ness monster.
