Understanding executive functioning has become a research goal and a passion for me. In a broad scope, I am emerged in the study of human behavior and cognitive processing that is "executive" in nature. I am particularly interested in examining the relationship between executive function and development, its impairments, ecological assessment, its neuroanatomical correlates, and how it relates to other higher functions. At my lab CORTEX, we are using structural neuroimaging to identify regional gray and white matter volumetric differences within the prefrontal cortex and across clinical and non-clinical samples. My current research includes three main projects: (1) the examination of prefrontal cortex and executive functions in children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Dyslexia, (2) development of a theoretical and evidence-based model of executive functioning, and (3) cross-cultural validation of a rating scale for executive functioning.
