Research interests

Anna Braslavsky

I am interested in understanding the mechanisms by which a reflexive neonate develops into a reflective child. How does a child become aware of his/her own mind and develop the ability to regulate his/her own actions and emotions? How does this ability affect and interact with the development of other abilities such as learning and social reasoning? I aim to address these questions by studying the development of executive function and the relation this has to the development of other abilities such as language and metacognition.

Prior to beginning graduate studies at UVic, my research focus was on predictors of medication initiation/adherence in children and adolescents with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
