Undergraduate Course Union (PsychOS)

Undergraduate students present a class project

PsychOS is the Psychology Organization of Students and we are the undergraduate course union for psychology. Our main function is to provide a resource for students, and to create a cohesive network of students and teachers who are interested in psychology. We often organize events, in which we raise money for various charities and organizations. Past charities have included: Vancouver Island Brain Injury Society, Kool Aid and the Vancouver Island Autistic Homes Society. Some events in the past year have included pub crawls, socials and movie nights. We have also worked in conjunction with Psi Chi, the Honours Society for psychology to host events. Last year we had the Taught talks, which were a series of lectures by professors based on their current psychological research, a debate between professors Martin Smith and Jeff Niehaus about the evolutionary merit of monogamy and a psychology volunteer fair. We are always looking for new and exciting ideas and events for the future.

You do not have to be a psychology major to join PsychOS, we accept any student from any department who has an interest in psychology. We meet on Wednesdays from 2:30-4pm in Cornett B145 and our office is in Cornett A171. Our e-mail address is psychos@uvic.ca and main website is web.uvic.ca/~psychos/.
