Welcome to the UVic Sailing Club
Welcome to the UVic Sailing Club. The Sailing Club is a student run Vikes Recreation sports club at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada.
The sailing club delivers sailing lessons, runs a race team, and organizes social events for members and their friends several times a semester.
The Sailing Clubs race team competes as a full member of the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) throughout the school year. The team attends regattas all over Noth America, and hosts an annual regatta at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club.
The Sailing Clubs Sailing lessons are open to all UVic students, faculty, and staff.
The Sailing Club also maintains the UVic Sailing Compound in Cadboro/Gyro Park, where the clubs boats and equipment are stored.
UVic Sailing Race Team
The UVic Sailing Race Team competes in the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA), the governing body for University and College
sailing in North America.
The team travells to regattas in Washington, Oregon, and BC most weekends, and also travells to University regattas in California, Hawaii, and other places in North America.
Housing and boats are provided by the host school, making University sailing the best way to compete and sail.
Membership on the team is open to all UVic undegrad students, and all students with sailing experience are encouraged to come down and join the team for a practice.
Sailing Lessons
The UVic Sailing Club provides sailing lessons for everyone, from absolute beginners who have never
put on a life jacket before, to experienced sailors looking to brush up on their sailing skills before
joining the race team. All our lessons take place in the UVic Sailing Compound in Cadboro-Gyro park,
just down the hill from UVic. Our lessons are scheduled every semester, and tend to fill up during
clubs days. If you are interested in sailing lessons, keep reading.
Social Events
In the sailing club, we believe that the club (and team) that parties together stays together. That's why we throw club sponsored social events at least three times a semester. Join our mailing list to stay updated on when and where the next event is going to be.
